The process...
This makeup was my first one to use a molded prosthetic. I began by sculpting the design out of clay. I then created a plaster mold form from the original sculpt. I used liquid latex in the mold to create the final prosthetic. The prosthetic was painted once it had set and left to dry. On application day, I began by applying the base body paint. I mixed the base paint with lighter tones to apply the highlights on the nose, cheekbones, and neck to give the skin a sense of depth. Once the paint dried, I applied the prosthetic to my face with spirit gum and trimmed the edges down. At that point, all that was left was to texture the skin with a paintbrush and sponge, and to apply the false lashes, eyeshadow, and lipstick. A few design elements, such as the darker skin color and the lip color were last minute changes that I felt pulled the design together better than in the drafts. The prosthetic was created over two days and the application process took 90 minutes.
