a 24 hour theatre experiment
A "Happening' in theatre is briefly described as pop-up participatory performance art, emphasizing an interaction between the performer and the audience. For my Theatre History final, we were required to create a happening in 24 hours. We spent two hours at the UNM duck pond, a place of relaxation and escape, to make a statement on violence throughout human history. The mannequins represent us, as a passive audience, sitting by idly while atrocities, such as those listed at the end of the piece, are committed. This was never intended as a film project, but it was recorded and shortended to submit for a grade. I led in the concept of the performance, the filming, and the editing of the project and assisted with the writing and the makeup design.
